BookFun Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the BookFun mobile application (hereinafter referred to as “the Application” or “BookFun”, Chinese name: 悦读 / 悅讀). Developer Aicrosoft (“we”, “us”, or “our”) deeply respects your personal privacy and builds upon a strict “Privacy by Design, Local-First” philosophy.

1. Core Philosophy: Zero Servers & Local Data Priority

BookFun is a personal offline reader and private digital bookshelf. From the ground up, our architecture guarantees your reading privacy:

  • No Centralized Servers: We do not operate backend servers or databases designed to harvest, read, or process your personal data.
  • Data Stays on Your Device: Your books, reading history, notes, and preferences remain 100% on your local device or your personal private cloud container.

2. Personal Data Processing and Storage

A. Local Sandbox & SwiftData

All content and data created, imported, or managed within BookFun, including:

  • Imported digital book files (TXT, EPUB)
  • Book TOC, chapter indexes, and CoreText pixel-level layout split caches (BookPageSplitter)
  • Reading progress, reading history, bookmarks, and annotations
  • Dual-track reading statistics (reading time, listening time, book progress cards)
  • Profile preferences (nickname, avatar, themes, and font configurations)

are encrypted and stored in your device’s local application sandbox using Apple’s SwiftData framework. All typesetting and text processing happen on your device’s processor in real time and never leave your hardware.

B. Apple iCloud (CloudKit) Private Database Sync

If you enable iCloud and sign in with the same Apple ID across multiple Apple devices:

  • Your bookshelf and progress data sync seamlessly through Apple’s official CloudKit Private Database container.
  • Sync is protected by Apple’s end-to-end security encryption. Aicrosoft and any third parties have no access, keys, or technical capability to view or decrypt your private iCloud data.

3. Text-to-Speech (TTS) Privacy Guarantee

  • Native Audio Synthesis: Audio narration and TTS features are powered directly by iOS native AVSpeechSynthesizer frameworks (including natural Siri voices).
  • Offline Synthesis: Speech synthesis happens locally in memory on your device without passing through third-party cloud speech APIs. No recording, no scraping, and zero text exfiltration.

4. Book Cover Search & Scraper

  • When you initiate the online cover scraper feature, the application sends only the book title or author keyword to public, compliant image sources to find matching book covers.
  • This request never includes or uploads book contents or personal device identifiers.

5. Strict “Four Zeros” Policy

  1. Zero Ads: BookFun is completely ad-free. No third-party ad networks or tracking SDKs.
  2. Zero Tracking: We do not collect IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) or perform cross-app/cross-site tracking.
  3. Zero Telemetry/Analytics: No third-party behavioral analytics or usage tracking trackers.
  4. Zero Privilege Abuse: We do not request unnecessary permissions such as Contacts, Precise Location, Microphone, or background clipboard monitoring.

6. Data Ownership and Deletion

  • Complete Ownership: You are the sole owner of your data.
  • Local Removal: Deleting books from the shelf immediately wipes the corresponding files and cache from the sandbox; uninstalling the app permanently purges all local data.
  • Cloud Cleanup: You can delete iCloud sync copies at any time via iOS Settings -> [Your Apple ID] -> iCloud -> Manage Account Storage -> BookFun.

7. Children’s Privacy

BookFun does not require account registration and does not collect personal data from children under 13. It is safe and clean for readers of all ages.
