BookFun End User License Agreement (EULA)

1. Introduction & Contracting Parties

This End User License Agreement (“Agreement” or “EULA”) is a legally binding contract between you (“User” or “you”) and Aicrosoft (“Developer”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) governing your use of the BookFun mobile application (the “Application” or “BookFun”, Chinese name: 悦读 / 悅讀).

By downloading, installing, running, or otherwise accessing the Application from the Apple App Store, you agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement. If you do not agree to all terms of this Agreement, do not download, install, or use the Application, and delete it immediately from your devices.

2. License Grant & Restrictions

2.1 Scope of License

We grant you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, limited license to download, install, and run the Application on Apple-branded products running iOS/iPadOS that you own or control, strictly for personal, non-commercial reading purposes, subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

2.2 Prohibited Actions

You agree that you will not:

  1. Decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the Application or any pagination engine algorithms;
  2. Bypass, breach, modify, or circumvent any technical protection measures, digital signatures, or sandbox boundaries;
  3. Rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, mirror, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Application;
  4. Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based upon the Application or its visual interfaces;
  5. Use the Application for any unlawful or infringing purpose under applicable jurisdiction.

3. User Content & Book Copyright Responsibility

  1. Local Content Container: The Application is an offline text layout tool and personal bookshelf. You may import digital book files (TXT and EPUB formats) from your local device storage, Wi-Fi local transfer, AirDrop, or system share sheets.
  2. Copyright Warranties: You represent and warrant that you own or have obtained all necessary licenses, permissions, or that the works reside in the public domain for all books, text, and images you import into the Application. You assume full legal and financial responsibility for any copyright infringement resulting from your importation or distribution.
  3. Local & iCloud Privacy: All imported book files, bookmarks, reading history, and notes are encrypted within your local device sandbox via SwiftData. Cross-device synchronization operates exclusively through your personal Apple ID via Apple CloudKit Private Databases. Aicrosoft does not host remote servers and does not read, inspect, or retain your book files.

4. Special Features

  1. Text-to-Speech (TTS): TTS narration functions run entirely on your local device via iOS native AVSpeechSynthesizer frameworks. Audio processing is completely offline and does not upload text to third-party cloud speech services.
  2. Online Cover Scraper: The cover scraper queries public, compliant internet image sources solely by book title keywords upon your request. Displayed covers remain the property of their respective copyright holders.

5. Intellectual Property Rights

The Application, including its source code, user interface designs, logos, 3D paper fold flip animations, and CoreText typesetting algorithms (BookPageSplitter), is the exclusive property of Aicrosoft and is protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, and trade secret laws. No ownership or proprietary rights are transferred to you.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. AICROSOFT EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ALL NON-STANDARD OR DAMAGED TXT/EPUB FILES WILL RENDER WITHOUT DEFECTS OR OMISSIONS.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE EXTENT NOT PROHIBITED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL AICROSOFT, ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, OR DEVELOPERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES (INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA LOSS, DEVICE CORRUPTION, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE APPLICATION.

8. Termination

This Agreement is effective until terminated. Your rights under this license will terminate automatically without notice if you fail to comply with any of its terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use and delete all copies of the Application.
